I thought you were on hiatus. It's good to have new Word goodness.

Birds have a generally weak sense of taste/smell (compared to other animals) so they love hot stuff. I remember my conure nuzzling my lip and I felt a burning sensation. We were freaking out, trying to figure out if he somehow got into a chemical cleaner or something. Then we remembered he has dried red chilies in his bird food ^_^

Well, I guess it depends on spice and bird. There are some things that are too hot even for birds.
