I decided to add a new character because I felt Word needed a playmate and while the human cousins are great, he needed someone who can relate to him. A little reminder that Martin and Robert are husbands and I figured they wanted someone to raise and love too.

You would think, but this is one of the admirable things about birds: they are very hospitable and welcoming to new members of a flock because they have a clan mentality. To them, new members joining the flock is normal and good hence why in a flock, one bird will protect another bird's young from danger.
